Let There Be Light
There were plenty of cheerful Christmas lights on display when we went for a late afternoon walk, despite the fact that our road had been without power since midday, courtesy of Storm Darragh.
Fortunately, the pub at the opposite end of Street where Kate had arranged a surprise post- birthday lunch for Tess with a group of her friends was still fully operational and they all had a good time.
As anticipated, Yeovil’s home game was postponed until Tuesday so I had a lazy afternoon until our walk.
Still without power, Tess and I decamped to Christ’s flat, 5 minutes walk away, which wasn’t affected and was warm and cosy as held been busy putting up his Christmas tree. We treated ourselves to fish and chips, while watching Strictly.
By the time that finished we’d had a text from National Grid to say power was restored in our road. It reminds you just how fortunate we are to take heat and light for granted.
