And another …

… eventful train journey. After the latest storm it wasn’t surprising to see water where it shouldn’t be or hear of trees down on tracks. Got turfed off the first train onto one going part of my route. We were told that this train couldn’t travel all the way either. One of the spirited women that I teamed up with said it was like being offered a choice between a replacement bus service or assisted dying. Anyway we got lucky. We could hear the phone conversations that the driver was having with various people and it materialised that he’d have a go at getting to Ely where most folk were hoping to find connections. Some mention of picking up someone on the way. And sure enough, the next station we spotted a man with a chainsaw join him in his cab. Quite surreal. As it turned out someone had already successfully removed the tree from our tracks and we got to Ely no problem. I managed to catch the train I’d originally been meant to join and got to Leicester on time. Can’t wait to see what the train journey to Glasgow on Tuesday will bring!
