Water, water everywhere
Went out to Tewkesbury to day to meet up with a relative.
The news media usually uses the iconic picture of the 2007 flood where the Abbey is surrounded by flood water to report on another flooding.
What always interests me when I see this image is that the builders of the Abbey had a good understanding of the flood plain at the confluence of the Rivers Seven and Avon many hundreds of years ago and built on the higher ground. The town may flood regularly but the abbey has not been flooded for 250 years.
I wonder how may new housing developments will be built on flood plains and left to the mercy of climate climate and the rivers.
My Blip is the view of the water from the living room. Its looks so close but the house is till six feet above the water. Reassuring!!!!! The extra shows a visitor coming close to see if we will provide food.
Hope you have all survived a very wet and windy weekend.
