Petworth Mouse
We went to Petworth House today to meet our friend Peter, who lives in Higham, Kent. We usually try to choose a meeting place broadly equidistant between our homes although Peter had a longer journey than us. Petworth House is one of the many jewels in the National Trust's portfolio of stately homes and country houses. Its grounds were landscaped by Lancelot 'Capability' Brown but the weather wasn't conducive for walking so we spent time admiring the art works in the house including paintings by JMW Turner, van Dyck, William Blake, Hieronymous Bosch, Titian, Joshua Reynolds, Gainsborough and many others. I'm not sure which of these the mouse is meant to represent but, as part of the seasonal decorations, it looked very apt.
