Remnants of Summer

I got out of the water as the rain swept in again. The Lake was only slightly choppy but for the first time this back-end felt really quite cold after only a short time. Up til now, after the initial gasp going in, there is a pleasant interlude of acclimatisation before it feels chilly. Today, this didn't happen. It felt cold and then grew colder, bringing on tingles like electric shocks in fingers and calves. It's a winter sign to stay in depth and close to shore and be aware of time. It's an interesting effect though and reminiscent of the electric bath in one of the Japenese ichiyu I visited a few years back. That was hot and as the current was sent through the water somehow there was always the frisson of fear that someone might up the voltage. Cold water seems to mirror the effect with the current self generated. Not so Shocking!
Storm Darragh dumped a lot of rain on the fell tops so this has the cooling effect on the Lake.  It's also flooded into the summer camping ground leaving the bunting wetly flapping and forlorn, so  I also wetly flapped back to the club house where happily a hot shower was working.
The second Sunday of Advent - so making Christmas cards took up the evening.
