A Blip Between Showers

This Sunken Garden is on the footprint of the old Manor Heath Mansion in Halifax which was built in 1852 by the carpet manufacturer John Crossley of Dean Clough Mills.
In 1929 the estate was bought by Halifax Corporation and the mansion remained empty and unused and fell into general disrepair. Dry Rot was discovered and the building was demolished (blown up) in 1958.
I have to say I think the local Parks Dept. have done a really great job here - a colourful reminder of the past.
