Gosh the windows need cleaning
An extremely windy night and cold in the morning in our usually warm house. So we lit a fire to sit by whilst we had our tea which was cosseting. Just briefly the sun came out and shone into the room so that I noticed how dirty the windows were and took this picture. I am planning to paint this room a step away from cream. I think, as it’s south facing, a pale-blue grey.
Another day of not walking in the woods but I made it out to get the paper, walking down by the fields with the dog in a raincoat in an attempt to keep away the mud a low-slung dachshund can bring in to the house. It worked pretty well. And once it’s on he doesn’t seem aware of it. Talked to a rarely seen neighbour on the way back up the lane, he was tidying up twigs and leaves from his drive, which seemed a bit of a perma-task. At least at this time of year it is less likely that healthy trees will blow down but there is a lot of detritus.
I only went out once more to get some compost and bulb fibre to pot up some amaryllis and pot on some paper whites into a big brass bowl. I cooked supper of a sausage and bean casserole which was delicious and we froze a handsome portion to eat later. We’re getting better at that.
Sampled a couple of the cocktails made by B’s friend Felix’s company, the Manhattans project. The green chilli margarita that V had was delicious, the Hay Cooler shouldn’t have been kept in the freezer as it was a bit of a slushy. But it was good!
