Masked Lapwing
I was on my way up the road to get a street shot for MonoMonday, but came to a stop when I spotted this bird on the side of the road.
Not a bird I'm familiar with it took me a while to identify it, but google tells me it's a Masked Lapwing (Vanellus miles), previously known as the Masked Plover and often called the Spur-winged Plover.
it's a ground dweller, related to wading birds and this one was accompanied by just one tiny, cute chick, a fluffy ball which I was unable to photograph, as I didn't have the right lens.
