Pekin duck
I took the dogs down to Strichen Lake this morning. There were three white ducks there. They appeared during the last couple of weeks. I don’t know if they have found their own way there or if someone has “dumped” them. I think they are very attractive with their orange beak and feet.
According to Google, “Nowadays, Peking duck is prepared from the American Pekin duck (Anas platyrhynchos domestica). Newborn ducks are raised in a free range environment for the first 45 days of their lives, and force fed 4 times a day for the next 15–20 days, resulting in ducks that weigh 5–7 kg (11–15 lbs).”
The first part of their lives seems fine but the idea of force feeding anything disgusts me!
