3 POINTS

High school wrestling tournament.  NAH!  It's nothing like Pro-wrestling which is really an exercise in gymnastics.  Like "reality" TV, there's nothing real about it; it's pretty well scripted.  But make no mistake about it, these pros are real athletes who do some things that could seriously injure themselves or their opponent so they are well prepared and good at what they do.

High school and college wrestling is nothing like that at all...except that the participants are also real athletes and do some amazing things.  There are points scored for any of several moves and whomever scores the most point in the time available, wins and earns team points to see which team(s) win.  High school is three 2 minute rounds (6 minutes total)...college is one 3 minute rounds and two 2 minute rounds (7 minutes total).

This was a relatively large tourney....18 schools participating.  Our home team is in the black/red singlet (on top) and he just scored 3 points for a takedown of his opponent.  There are many weight classes and weight is strictly observed.  For the first time, this tournament featured girl's wrestling as a separate adjunct.  Previously, when there were fewer girls wrestling, they had to wrestle boys and it went very well.  Now, the number of female wrestlers is large enough so that females wrestle only other females according to weight class.
