One day at a time

Newcastleton

We are away in the camper van just over the border into Scotland. We've never been here before. We found out it pays to ring up to see if there was a pitch available. The website said it was full but the owners said they were empty. Maybe that was why! So we arrived and had a stroll around as the light faded. Much is closed: a café that allows dogs until Wednesday, a pub's restaurant until Thursday (we're leaving that morning), a thriving café open but doesn't allow dogs, a thriving pub but wet sales only, a wonderful butcher open every day, and this community centre whose clock and lamp attracted me. On the clock it says: LLAGS. Strange I thought. It stands for Liddesdale Ladies' Amenities Group. Did they supply the clock? I shall try to find out.
There is a lot of history here.
