Dinner

This evening was the Christmas dinner of our research group, at an Indian street food restaurant in Tollcross. I arrived first, but waited for others before sitting down, not wanting to to be stuck on the staff table. I joined the younger table, that included my PhD student B, our developer F, И, other PhD students and a post-doc. Perhaps they would have had more fun without me, but I know I'd have been bored on the "top table". These sorts of event are also supposed to foster community rather than maintain cliques.

Earlier I'd spend the day programming intensively, but getting disappointing results. I took a break to go for groceries, and convinced myself that I'd get better results with the better data that I'd already started collecting.
