I heard a radio discussion this morning  concerning the insidious rise of AI

I thought "what have I done now" before realising it wasn't about me but the modern world of generative Artificial Intelligence 

There is growing concern about the number of people being put out of work because their jobs are being done by AI applications.

It seems to be more prevalent in the industries of art, design, music, and creatives such as advertising.

Photography is another area where the creeping menace of AI is having an impact. Sometimes positive, more often negative 

Can anyone tell the difference between an AI generated image and a conventionally produced one?

My favourite caller to the show was a man who is a professional tree surgeon and arborist. His advice to listeners was to train in a trade involving manual work. As he said, there isn't an AI application that can do his job.

So I immediately went outside and chopped some firewood.

Take that AI, my job has not been axed. Yet...
