Calk Abbey
Today we drove to Calk Abbey in Derbyshire to meet our friends Liz and Genny. Calk Abbey is a National Trust property comprising a Country House Estate with gardens and a huge area of National Nature Reserve. There are some wonderful walks within the Reserve and we took Dylan as well for a spot of exercise.
We had a picnic by the lake first before heading off, the weather being kind with cloudy warmth and the rain holding off. Initially Dylan was interested in the sheep poo lying around in the overflow car park, but we soon persuaded him not to eat it as we found an area well away from the sheep and their poo for our picnic.
I took lots of photos on the walk, and also some from the hide set up in the corner of the car park where birds could be watched on various feeders.
There is a deer reserve there as well, hence today's photo of two of them, initially there were none within photo shooting distance, but when they saw the camera these two came over to investigate, it could have been my hat they were attracted to.
Later, back home, I made tuna pasta bake with sweetcorn for tea.
