Great Birthday Bake Off

And here we have eldest's Birthday Cake in the works...being baked by (& this is where I don't win the parent of the year award!) ... Eldest!

Have mentioned before that she is vegan and has happened upon a good reliable recipe for a lovely cake recipe. We would usually buy her one, not possessing 'the skills' but she asked not to this year as she is enjoying sharpening hers. I really wanted to assist and learn on the job as it were but was sleeping off a nightshift & missed my lesson :-(

She says she will be doing more over Christmas though and hasn't expelled her Mum from Cake School. Prior for leaving for tonight's shift, things had progressed considerably into a 4 layer affair with it's base coat of icing. Am proud of her, it's gonna look fab & I will endeavour to do the baking next year and blip about it ;-D
