Curlew

Another wader on the local shore captured in the late afternoon sunshine.
This is one of the larger ones.

A curlew, Numenius arquata.  There are often one or two of these around on the beach but after a wet spell when the ground gets soft and saturated, up to ~20 at a time can be found probing the local sports fields and parkland grass.
