A time for everything

A bit of “light” reading!

Monday
This afternoon was our Book Club Christmas party, and so much of my morning was spent making a quiche to take along. We met at Nancy’s house as usual, at 1 pm, and we were almost a complete group - just one of our number couldn’t make it. There was plenty of food as always, some wine to wash it down, and good company.
After our lunch, we had our book exchange. We each take a wrapped book, then Nancy gives us each a number. The first to go chooses a book from the pile. Then the second and subsequent people can either “steal” one that has already been opened, or take a new one from the pile. The book shown in my blip is what I came away with, all 724 pages of it! I actually have it out of the library at present and have started it, but not got very far with it. However, I was very happy to receive it, as it’s a very popular book, and so there’s a good chance I wouldn't be able to renew it, and there’s no way I’m going to get that read in one borrowing period, especially over the holidays. Also we went on to choose it for one of our reads next year, or more precisely January of 2026, that way people have from November till January to read it, since we don’t usually discuss a book in December. So now I can read it now, but then still have it to skim through again before we discuss it in Book Club.
It was then time to move on to selecting books to read next year. We each had submitted suggestions to Suzi, and she had collated the list and sent it out to us all, so today we went through them and voted for them.
