Lake District Day 3 - Rydal Waterfall and Grot
We started our day of shooting at River Brathay. The conditions were not as we hoped, but we managed to get a few decent shots, mostly of the two swans that we saw. One of the shots is in the extras. We then enjoyed some tea, coffee and cake at Chesters by the River.
After that, we drove to Rydal Hall, where we captured the waterfall and the Grot(to). This is today's main image. Wijnand brought a lamp, which I used to create a base image of the view through the window from the Grot. A bit of editing, which included substituting the fake flame for an AI generated "real" flame, was done to give the impression of a dark Grot with the light of the lamp illuminating the scene. The resulting image is in the extras.
We took a bit too much time at the waterfall and grotto, which meant our original plan of driving to Wastwater was cut short: there just wouldn't be enough time to get there and still have some time to create some images.
Instead, we drove to Clappersgate Bridge. I used HDR to cope with the contrast between the sky and the bridge. The image in the extras consists of three images merged together in Lightroom.
Even though we didn't have the sort of light we had yesterday, I'm quite pleased with the images I managed to get. Another successful and fun day in The Lake District!
