WFO and presented with a phone screen before I sat down at a desk. My colleague was showing me a photo of a positive pregnancy test and, very loudly, saying shush. They preceded to do the same with many others. Having spoken to GP about a variety of symptoms the day before they were advised to test and, they say, were surprised by the result.
I haven't known anyone to, so widely, share such news at such an early stage. A short time afterwards I had a procedural conversation about her sickness absence and was given a lot of detail about that too.
Mid morning I took several bags of 'parkrun' donations to the food bank. I was welcomed by someone I know from parkrun and we had a quick chat about our weekend adventures and some mutual acquaintances.
Next a chat about mental health with another colleague. Their 9 year old has been referred to mental health services after what was, for my colleague, a significant disclosure about voices in their head telling them to self harm.
Then a chat with another manager about our shared apprentices. They didn't seem that interested in what i had to say. Time will tell.
