Life's Little Moments

Heat Seeker

With Jax at day care today, Charlie has no competition for the primo spot in front of the fireplace, and he's taking full advantage.  Is there a cat alive that doesn't love to be in front of a fire or in a patch of sunshine?  Usually when I get a camera out and try to get ground-level shots of Charlie, he moves or pointedly looks away, but today he was giving me his very best looks.

I increased the aperture a tiny bit, to 2.8 and then stacked two images to try to get both eyes and nose in focus.  Cats are definitely easier to shoot wide open than dogs, mostly due to their physical construction with nose being much closer to eyes.

I've been very busy today.  After I dropped Jax off, I drove into town and got the major grocery shopping done.  Then home for breakfast (overnight oats and fresh berries with a dollop of ricotta) then out to one of the local farms to buy eggs.  They also had some lovely purple cauliflower so I got some of that too.  It doesn't taste any different than regular cauliflower but it certainly is pretty.  Back home to do some baking, cleaning and laundry and then Hubs and I headed back into town for lunch.  We decided to have lunch at the cheese shop since I wanted to pick up some of that delicious St Agur blue cheese for the weekend.  Then a stop at the liquor store.  I'm ready for a nap now.

Peg should be here between 6 and 7 this evening - can't wait to see her in person!

Dark with blood orange today.
