4/11 Almshouses

" These Almshouses were built by The Guild of The Holy Cross in the early 15th century to provide homes for aged local people and this use has continued down to the present day"

- Plaque on the outside of the buildings.

These Almshouses in Church Street are attached to the grammar school in Stratford where William Shakespeare was once a pupil. Next to that is the ancient Guild Chapel with origins dating back to the 13th century.
It's all fascinating stuff if you like history.

The extra was taken inside the Guild Chapel.
