The mirror cracked...
Actually the mirror was intact but the casing flew off when it was hit by a car coming from the opposite direction this morning as I was driving down nearby Carthouse Lane on the way to taking Jennifer to Woking Station. It's a narrow lane that has no line markings down the middle and too many drivers go too fast for this type of road and stray across to the wrong side. I returned later on when the road was quieter to see if I could find the casing in the ditch that runs alongside the road. I did find one intact casing but it was the wrong size and wrong colour. Then I found mine - unfortunately in two pieces. So that's going to be £50 for a new one. The chap at the garage I go to said they'd fitted a new casing on a car earlier that morning - perhaps that was the culprit! Unsurprisingly, Carthouse Lane is a clipped wing mirror hot spot. One of the residents I spoke to when I was searching the ditch said there had been two such incidents only yesterday. I could say each a mirror image of the other....
