A good death

My neighbour John was diagnosed with a grade IV brain tumour just over a year ago. After surgery and various treatments through the year, the doctors gave him the news that there was nothing more that they could do, so this day has been long expected with John slipping away last night.

I have been privileged to visit most days and John has been surrounded by family, smiles, laughter and love throughout the last week.  They have also had amazing support from the Marie Curie nurses, some carers, district nurses and our local hospice. Together they made it possible to have a good death at home.  He was a lovely man and he will be much missed. If you pray please lift him and his wife Judy up to god for mercy and comfort.
