First, gather your veg

Hannah Glasse's  much-quoted recipe advice "first, catch your hare" is apparently  apocryphal. Hares are notoriously difficult to catch and nowadays need as much encouragement as possible to exist at all. Their population in Britain has declined by 80% in the past century. 

Much easier to go out to the winter garden and gather some stationary  ingredients which, when combined with some pre-cooked butter beans, will make a nourishing meal.
