Freezing Fog
The constant fog and damp aren’t great for all our moods. I visited my mother today, and although I managed to cheer her up a little, she looked sad and depressed. Winter has never been her favourite season, and the sense of unhappiness seems to be growing with age and dementia.
In the Taunus hills near her house, the fog was freezing and growing a fringe of white ice on every leaf and twig. Down here in the valley, the temperature stayed just above zero, so our world was simply grey today - and so dark that the street lights already got switched on at 3 p.m.
