Friday
Hetty and I went out earlier today because I was due to meet Nicola and Carol at 10.30.
All the mad dogs seemed to be out. Perhaps they are walked early to avoid people.
One woman explained her rescue Labrador used to be kept in a crate all day and it still struggles to behave normally. It stopped going nuts once I allowed it to give me a good sniff. Hetty was very subservient. It even let me make a fuss.
Then we met a dog called Max. Poor Hetty. She got pounced on and barked at.
On the way up the K&A, this obliging Heron posed for a photograph.
Nice catch up with Nicola and Carol. We swopped stories and cards.
I prepped the Christmas parsnips and carrots and they are now in the freezer next to the Wellington I made earlier this week.
Then I got F's bed ready for her return on Sunday.
I was distracted by a pile of photos (extra) I miss my children as children. But, when they are little, you are so busy with working and bringing them up that you don't realise they are they best years of your life.
Pub plans this evening.
