More shenanigans
Of a more sedate kind this time. Our book group met for our traditional pre-Christmas lunch, in a restaurant for the first time in a few years -- we started hosting it at someone's house during Covid and just carried on doing it that way. We also did our traditional secret Santa (only books allowed), so here we are with our presents. The meal and company were both excellent -- we all congratulated ourselves on how lucky we are to be in such a lovely group, with similar but not identical reading tastes. This restaurant is friendly, homely and very good value for money -- three courses for 19 euros. We spent a happy two hours there.
The weather was terrible all day. Well I suppose I shouldn't say that, since we do need rain, and we were well supplied. I was out early for a layby sausage rendezvous (Irish guy from the Alps in a refrigerated van). As well as the sausages (Cumberland and Lincolnshire), I collected a pork joint with crackling. Yay! Saving it in the freezer for later.
At this point, I had an hour to kill, and there was no point going all the way home again. So given the weather I drove to Olonzac and sat in the Café de la Poste with a coffee and my book before heading to Lézignan for lunch. After lunch I had a tour of Lézignan car parks with Irene, who doesn't know the town well and couldn't remember exactly where she'd parked her car. We found it eventually!
Back home and I was glad to settle by the fire. A cosy evening in beckons.
