An ordinary life....

Do not adjust your sets!

Another Empire Biscuit blip!!

Managed to make 30 biscuits; 26 for the singing group and 4 to offer friends who popped in for an impromptu visit in the afternoon.

Got a message from friend Gail yesterday to say she and her husband Alan were going to be having lunch with Alan's brother and sister and their spouses in a local restaurant (Alan and Gail live outside Edinburgh, his sister lives in Banchory and brother lives in Glasgow and they've chosen our little town as a central venue to meet up in every couple of months for lunch :-) and asked if they could pop in afterwards for a wee catch up.  My answer was of course!

Empire biscuits jammed and iced, tidy up, Christmas tealights on and ready for visitors.

They arrived just after 4pm and we had a lovely catch up.  Gail is a very healthy eater and the only "naughty" calories she eats are my Empire biscuits so their visit was well timed.  Her jaw dropped when I brought the plate through with them on it then she actually clapped her hands in delight.  It's so lovely that these little things can bring so much happiness!  :-))

They travel a lot (Alan and Gail, not the biscuits :-) so we're always happy to get together whenever they're back in Scotland.  Lovely to hear about their recent trip to the USA, and their planned trips to Thailand and South Africa in the New Year.  We were able to regale them with our plans for our week in Forfar in February.  LOL!  I really must try and get over my utter terror fear of flying!

I knew that after a three course lunch they wouldn't want dinner but I had a pot of homemade lentil and ham soup, so we all enjoyed a bowl of that with some seeded bread from the bakers.  D had to head off to his final group singing rehearsal with the rest of the Empire Biscuits.  Alan and Gail headed off about half an hour after D to let me have a "peaceful evening"

Not sure about peaceful but I got birthday cards ordered for all the December birthdays, some of my Tesco food shop done, menu planning for  next week and some more editing of the Nikki's pregnancy bump photos I took at the weekend.  When D returned just before 10.30pm I was resting my eyes ;-))  The singing gang were very happy with their sweet treat.
