Don't tell Lola!
Taking painkillers at bedtime last night let me get a lovely deep, pain-free sleep and I woke up feeling much better, thank goodness.
Tesco delivery all present and correct, and the Aga serviced all by 9.30am
After third odd years in Australia and latterly New Zealand, my friend (and chief bridesmaid :-) Fiona moved home earlier this year, to help look after her mum. We've had many attempts to get together since she got home and something's always gone wrong and we still haven't managed it, but she invited me and D to for lunch at her mum's and I was so worried yesterday we would have to postpone again, because of my hip pain, so I was very relieved to be feeling much better.
Set off to Broughty Ferry and had a lovely lunch and afternoon. Fiona's mum Margaret and my mum (also Margaret) we good friends and Fiona's gran and my gran were good friends, so getting a hug from Margaret is like getting a hug from all of them combined. So lovely.
Fiona is an accomplished artist and sculptor and she was keen to let me see her new studio that's just been completed in the garden. Literally just completed as the joiner finished putting shelves up while we were there! It will be a fabulous place for her to create in. I am so happy she is home and we can see each other regularly. I am hoping she will give me come acrylic painting lessons :D
We also got to meet her little furry friend Hamish, who is nine months old. He is adorable! So tiny compared to Lola but just as friendly. He took a shine to D (as dogs and children always do :-)
Fiona's sister Lorraine arrived while we were there and it was lovely to see her too. Hoping they will be able to come to ours for lunch at some point over the festive period as Fiona wants to see our Christmas decs :-)
Got home just after 5pm. Hip was a little grumpy but nowhere near the pain levels of yesterday. Decided best to sit with my feet up in case it got any worse. D made dinner again and I sat down and immediately nodded off! Still not a Christmas card written, and I'm only sending a few as in previous years I am making a charitable donation as I refuse to spend the money on stamps. Plus I speak to everyone I would send cards to on social media so can wish them merry Christmas that way :-)
