Irresistible

Spent a lovely morning in Muswell Hill before heading into central London for afternoon tea and theatre. Found a lovely book shop with this great idea of picking a mystery book with a few clues about contents. Got one for my son for Christmas. Any ideas what it could be? The plain brown paper wrapping promises: Dance with death; Time travel; Optometrist; Meta-fictional. 
I’m stumped.
