Salter’s Way

There was an ancient road around these parts used as far back as the Romans, maybe before. The name Salters Lane crops up in old maps and newspapers going way back. This view would have been familiar with the pilgrims and drovers if they saw it today. Somewhere in that vista another drove road, one from Durham to the North Sea ran right to left.
