Easy like Saturday afternoon
I had the bit between my teeth today. Closure of the Christmas shopping is within reach and I knew from past experience that Keswick wouldn’t let me down.
The journey there was a tale of two halves - the first being tractors, weekend and tourist drivers - the second being infinitely more fun when having passed them the road was clear and open, which made for a lovely drive through the lakes at my own space in Big Blue, but within the confines of the national speed limit obvs.
Driving that van makes me ridiculously happy. I don't know why and can't begin to explain it, but everyone should get a van....
I was there around 10.30, so it wasn’t too busy and in needed of some even fresher air, I took a wander down to the lake side, which (as you can see from the main) is always worth a look. Even there the tourists were in small number. I also stumbled across some Christmassy bollards, which are a first for me and can be found in the extras.
I headed back in and found some things I was and wasn’t looking for and bought them anyway. It was lovely to be somewhere different focussing on something other than myself (well, aside from the usual purchase of jelly babies from Friars’) and just having a nice mooch under my own steam.
When I’d had enough, I jumped in the van and did a couple of errands back in town before heading home to check the spoils against the existing pile o’ stuff. Definitely down to “just a couple of bits” now.
Spent the rest of the afternoon watching the daft but fun; Carry-On and then binging Day Of The Jackal, which is excellent.
