Yawning Rainbow Lorikeet

There is not much more I can say about the Rainbow Lorikeet (Trichoglossus haematodus) that I have not mentioned before.

This bird is so unmistakable with its bright red beak and colourful plumage. Both sexes look similar, with a blue (mauve) head and belly, green wings, tail and back, and an orange/yellow breast.

Caught this one yawning, either from the cold or from hunger. Winter stress is tough on birds.
