Mostly Six Five Oh

Saturday

Hello, Oregon.  Coming in to land at PDX.

The day started with a bang, literally.  The biggest-loudest-hugest clap of thunder at around 4:45 a.m. had us flying out of bed wondering what on earth until we saw another flicker of lightning.  T went back to bed but that was that for me.  Coffee, sat worriedly listening to the wild car wash of a storm wondering if this would be the third holiday season in a row with an atmospheric river coming through the roof.  Happily, no, new roof is doing its job.  A text 6:15 a.m.from a friend in the city saying she was watching waves of rain water rushing down Castro Street and there was of all things a tornado warning for SF on her phone!

9 a.m. we headed to SFO, storm lessening to great gusts of wind and we wondered if there'd be any delays.  Wonderfully there were none, we were only 20 minutes delayed leaving the gate, a slightly hairy take off and then made up in flight time - probably pushed along by the winds! - to land at PDX 10 mins early.  Hurrah.
