Interval
Not my usual end of a Sunday.
I arrived at Manchester City centre in good time - no trouble driving in, I parked on the Salford side of the river. Great to hear the cathedral’s ten bells being given a work out, drowning out the sounds of the nearby ice rink and Christmas market. I had come for the choral evensong. Friend M turned up half way through and we had a good chat afterwards.
Then I headed to New Century Hall for the Unthanks gig (see yesterday’s blip), which was a sell out. They are two sisters, Becky and Rachel, accompanied by a six piece band, it was great to hear (and see) them live. I took the photo during an earlier than anticipated interval, caused by a complete failure of the sound system - which was fortunately sorted out. There was a rush to the bar. Shortly after taking the photo I had a tap on the shoulder - someone I didn’t recognise at first, but he knew me. Another retiree from the city council, we had a good chat for the rest of the intermission.
