London Views
Spent today wandering London - caught the train in to Blackfriars which is a brilliant station on a bridge over the Thames. Perfect stop for first views of the city, and start a walk along the south bank. It was a bit chilly so I had a coffee stop at the National Theatre - then wishing I’d thought to get tickets for a performance. Onwards past the London Eye, great views across to the Big Ben, past the Covid memorial wall which was very moving (hundreds of painted with hearts filled with the names of people who died from Covid).
I met up with 2 friends at the Garden Museum by Lambeth Palace. The main draw was lunch in the lovely cafe, but we did wander round the museum. Very quirky, in a beautiful church, with displays ranging from historic garden designs, old implements, plant hunters, to a jumper worn by Alan Titchmarsh on Gardeners World. We were also able to climb up the church tower for wonderful (of grey) views out over the Thames and London.
To complete the day we had a whizz round the V&A just before closing time - and then a wine and chat before heading our separate ways.
