Grey wagtail
What busy little birds these are. I've had my eye on this one for days, hoping for a clear shot. It lives down on the Nuns' Stream and associated small waterways and pips about at the rate of knots, bouncing it's tail about. Why do they do that? I'm very unsure what advantage it can give them.
Also while in the reserve I met up with one of the wardens who's become quite a friend. He's short and round and has the worst dentistry I've ever seen, but he's such a lovely man. We had a long chat and he's told me a lot more about the current going's on in the place and the plans for a new boardwalk.
What else did I see there today? The goldcrests again, a woodpecker and - believe it or not - a butterfly. A brimstone this time. It's true it was sunny at that point and fairly warm, but I was still surprised..
Okay, that's me for today. Happy Monday evening xx
