River Erie at Ivybridge, Devon
A visit to my optician in the town was also a convenient opportunity to take a few pics in the surrounding area. The Erme cascades down from Dartmoor through a narrow channel and explains the siting of the now closed Stowford Paper Mill, which was converted from a corn mill in the mid 16th Century with water power very much in evidence. The extra shows one of the water turbines which was installed n the 1930's and when the mill was not in production at night, was used to provide electricity for the town. Somewhat sadly, the site of the mill has been redeveloped in recent years.
