Susan’s Christmas card 2024

Thank you for all your good wishes for a safe journey north. Despite the worst efforts of the M25 we made reasonably good time to Scotch Corner where we’re staying overnight.

Calmly and without any fuss the sat nav guided us off the M25 onto the A13 W and on to the M11. All the matrices were showing M25 closed between J28 and J27. So it proved when we passed under the M25 at the M11 interchange. The traffic going east was at a standstill and backed up for miles. Southbound traffic on M11 trying to join M25 east also tailed back for miles.

There was a bit of traffic on the A13, nothing compared to the nightmare we would have been in had we stayed on the M25.

And now to Susan’s card. It’s a painting of the Inn on the Lake in Glenridding where we are staying for Christmas from 23rd to 27th. Ullswater has yachts and the steamer and the fells form a back drop to the starry scene. Our room will not be one of the Lakeview rooms shown here, we’ll be around the back! We have stayed in a Lakeview room on a free upgrade once.

We have stayed in this hotel before in the month runing up to Christmas and its decorations were stupendous. We always wanted to stay for Christmas, this year we have the opportunity as without Doreen it would have been quite a sad time.

Perhaps we may have snow? I’d be surprised.
