A view from The Hog's Back
The Hog's Back is a ridge that is part of the North Downs and runs from Guildford to Farnham. It gets its name because of its relative narrowness. Nevertheless, it carries a dual carriageway road link between the two towns. I was going to Farnham, via Guildford fire station (to donate to their Christmas toys appeal), for a consultation with the dental hygienist. My dentist, and the hygienist, don't understand why I have been needing so many fillings and asked me to keep a food diary for a week or so. I did find this quite an interesting, and revealing, exercise but - as I expected - it did not flag up any obvious answers. I don't take sugar in tea or coffee, or on anything else, although the hygienist pointed out other possible sources of sugar or acidity in my diet. But this would only involve minor tweaks. The diet is otherwise non-problematic. I think it's just that my teeth, like the rest of my body, are beginning to feel their age! However, back to The Hog's Back. I pulled into a parking area to take the blip, resisted the temptation to get a coffee at the hillside cafe there, and went on my way. There is a fine independent brewery in nearby Tongham which reminds me I must get a bottle of their Advent Ale.
