Gloucester Services

Another day of motorway driving to visit family in the East Midlands.

On the way back home, we made our first visit to the Gloucester services on the M5 motorway. This unique. family owned service area has none of the burger chains or coffee-shop chains that fill most service areas.  Instead it has a farm shop selling a wide range of locally sourced products and has a butcher, a fish counter, a delicatessen, as well as a restaurant serving food cooked on site from local ingredients and served traditionally at the counter on to real plates (unlike the takeaway card or polystyrene disposable boxes at most service areas).

It is a really pleasant place to stop and do a little shopping and I am certain we will be stopping there again many times in the future, even once the Christmas decorations have been taken away.
