An ordinary life....

Happy Birthday to D!

Up for 8am (well D was :-) for the kitchen fitter arriving.  It was a little later when I made it downstairs and he'd gone again!  All he wanted to do today was check the water pipes, the electricity supply and dismantle the kitchen-in-a-cupboard that was there.  All done in jig time.  He will return tomorrow to start the real work.

John and Norma arrived.  They always pop up on our birthdays with a card and gift.  So lovely to see them.  Lola was ecstatic.  They are two of her favourite people :-) Had a lovely catch up with them and although I have a pic of the birthday boy (see extras for it and Alan's delight at seeing Norma, and his delight at the lights in the Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh yesterday :-) I loved this pic of John and Norma (love's young dream :-) Not bad for 88 (Norma) and 87 (John). We won't see them till after Christmas now as they are off to a lovely hotel in the Highlands from 23rd - 27th December.  They're hoping the snow stays away till they get there but happy to get snowed in and have to spend extra time there :-)

In the afternoon D spent time at the driving range and I finally got the gonk paintings for Niall's wee boys completed!  Well I think they're done.  Will check them in the morning to see if they need anything added and once happy will get them mounted and framed.  I think Niall will be here sometime this week so want to have them ready for him.

Made D one of his favourite dinners for his birthday - a steak sandwich, which is basically French baguette halved and toasted then rubbed with a garlic clove then a little mayo, topped with strips of panfried steak, onions and mushrooms and a drizzle of chilli jam.  Birthday cake for dessert :-)

Can't quite believe I have a 58 year old husband.  Ten minutes ago he was my 19 year old boyfriend!!!

Time is a funny thing.
