Otley is a lovely old market town. Quaint alleys and courtyards. An old market place and lots of individual shops.
All dressed up nicely for Christmas.
However I thought this statue would make a change from all the Christmas Blips.
This is the statue of Thomas Chippendale, the world famous cabinet maker, born in Otley in 1718. It is in the centre of the town outside the former Prince Henry’s Grammar School, where he received an elementary education.
He left the town in his late teens to make his fortune in London.
An 18th commode made by him sold by Christie’s for over £3 million.
Must be the most expensive ’ portaloo’ !
No.17. Advent cheese. Red Leicester with cracked black pepper.
Joke:
I love jokes about eyeballs.
The cornea the better.
