Deli bar
Back across to Sheffield first thing, this morning, accompanied by Charlie, happily, who wanted to come and see Abi, too.
Mid morning, we went down to see the consultant. I liked him immediately, although I was a little hesitant when he stated that despite there being no evidence of fluid behind Abi's eardrum from the scan she had earlier in the week, he was minded to perform a 'small procedure' and double-check.
Thus Abi bravely (as ever) lay on the couch while he anaesthetised her ear and set to work with an eye-wateringly long scalpel that fortunately was outside Abi's line of vision. And after that he went in with a vacuum suction device and allowed himself a small smile when he found the fluid he'd been looking for.
After that, we all went up to the ward and then I set off to get some lunch from the deli that we had seen advertised. I have to say that it was a mild disappointment.
We stayed with Abi while the anaesthetic wore off and obtained her some pain-killers, after which she went to sleep and we decided to head back before it got dark.
Back in Salford, I met Hannah for a drink at the Old Fire Station and then we went down to Porta where we intercepted the Minx on her way back from work.
I checked in with Abi later and she was feeling OK, and optimistic about getting home tomorrow. I hope she's right.
