Cherub with Necklace

What better background for my treasured necklace than a cherub, for the two little charms on the left contain cherubs, though you'll probably have to take my word for it. I rarely take this necklace off. Each little charm represents something meaningful to me, particularly the second from the left in memory of my granddaughter who died when she was just two weeks old. It was a very sad and difficult time, but also quite precious in ways that are difficult to articulate.

It was cold and very foggy this morning, but not raining and our Pilates class on the floor got us moving. We decided to take Spike on the Brush Creek walk which is flat and paved. Just the thing for John whose knee is showing signs of wear and tear. We started near the cataracts where Brush Creek joins Santa Rosa Creek and since we seem to have been documenting the different parts of Santa Rosa Creek this week we decided to follow it to see where it goes. We crossed a bridge, walked through a neighborhood and back to the creekside trail winding up behind some kind of shopping center. Even John, whose  sense of direction is usually flawless, had no idea where we were. Eventually we were able to walk through a parking lot to the front of the buildings and realized that we were in the little mall that is right around the corner from Trail House. We turned around, walked back to the car and went to Trail House for a very delicious avacado toast with bacon, caramelized onions and a poached egg!

We were pleased to get a phone call last night from Matt who has been incognito for a couple of weeks in China, Vietnam and elsewhere in Asia. He described a hair raising episode on the very last leg of his trip from San Francisco to Los Angeles when his plane was hit by lightning! After the lights went on and off several times and the plane bounced around, the pilot came on and told them what had happened, reassuring everybody that the plane was designed to sustain a lightning strike though they always did their utmost to avoid them....The plane might be designed to sustain it but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have....

Today is Will's birthday. Many happy returns to our oldest grandchild!
