Snuffling

I thought I would blip a couple of Maggy's snuffle toys seeing as a few people have asked.   Apologies to those not interested, read no further.

In the one on the left, you can insert treats (I usually just use her kibble) in pockets in the items which are then placed in the holes and also under them in the holes which means she has to get the items out and then snuffle around in the pockets to get the kibble and hunt around in the holes.

In the mat on the right, you just put the kibble or treats in amongst the fabric bits and you can see her in the image to the right snuffling getting them out.  They make great enrichment options when you want them to 'hunt' for their food or slow their eating down.   We are new to the snuffle business but I recommend it and in fact one very spoiled Goldie I know has shelves and shelves of snuffle items and never eats her meals out of a bowl.  Wet food is placed on licky mats or licki bowls.

I don't go that far with Maggy but if she is hungry for her dinner and I haven't finished work, I might put half a cup of kibble in the mat which keeps her occupied and give her the rest of her meal in her bowl later.

For cat owners there are also these types of things for cats.
