Washout
We had very heavy rain yesterday and overnight. This morning, I headed out for my walk. I noticed that the water had overflowed the ditches in a few places and that a couple of driveways had a fair amount of damage from water running down them. I met Susan, another walker I sometimes see. She told me that the road was washed out down by the beach. It sure was! There was a worker there already, and he told me that a crew was on the way. A significant amount of the roadside where cars could park has been washed away and the pavement has been undercut by the water. I decided not to wade through the water. The worker waded through to talk with me, and it was about 6 inches deep. He said that cars could drive through if absolutely necessary. Not the first time the road had been washed out there. I guess the culvert that was put in after the last washout isn't big enough to handle water caused by heavy rains. Wonder what repairs will be done now. Lucky we don't have to go anywhere for the next couple of days.
