Making Movies

I wasn’t really required at rehearsal tonight as I’m not in the scene they were blocking. But something was needed to help cover the change into that scene, and that something is going to be a movie of our heroes heading off to Egypt on a flying carpet. I think I’m going to have some lines to say whilst the film is being shown, so I thought I’d go down and see what was being filmed.
The actors were on a carpet, in front of a blue screen so that appropriate scenery can be added in the edit. The reason everyone is looking so glum/thoughtful is that it’s just been pointed out that Aladdin’s costume is a similar blue to the screen. Which could well result in just a disembodied head appearing in the final film! I left whilst they were trying to find a solution to this dilemma as it was shaping up to be a much longer session than anticipated.
I don’t think Mr Spielberg has anything to worry about…
