Goldfinch on the telephone wire
It's only a couple of weeks ago that I blipped my first goldfinch. Today, again, it was its lovely trilling song that alerted me. Instead of on the chimney pot, this one was singing its heart out on the telephone wire right outside the bedroom window. Vertical blinds make a great bird-hide so I was able to photograph it fairly easily, with a bit of zoom.
This feather-soft creature
Tail to head,
Is golden yellow,
And black and red.
