Green
“Can you come and collect The Youngest? She’s turned green.”
So went the call from school just as I had arrived at work. Unaware of any auditions for Wicked or Shrek, I worked on the assumption that the stated change of hue wasn’t a positive, so depositing some food for the office Jacob’s Join and offering a few season’s greetings, I turned on my heel and headed back home to collect her.
Whilst not quite the shade of green I had envisaged, she clearly was under the weather, so she spent the day at home with me.
I still had to work, so couldn’t give her quite as much attention as I would have liked, but fortunately she occupied herself by drawing this on a mini canvas. She told me she liked the style of another artist (whose name escapes me) and came up with this, which I think is very cool - I also think she's been incredibly generous with my hair.
There was a slight twinge of "something" on seeing her refer to us all as The Family we once were.
Talented bunch, my lot. I don’t know where they get it from, but it certainly isn’t me!
